Testing Methods
This resource is educational documentation for laboratory procurement and record review. It does not provide medical advice, treatment guidance, dosage, administration, or reconstitution instructions.
Analytical methods answer different questions and should not be treated as interchangeable. HPLC separates components and can support a chromatographic purity result. LC-MS combines liquid chromatography with mass spectrometry and can provide mass-to-charge evidence relevant to identity. The NCBI chromatography overview and NCBI MeSH entry for LC-MS describe these techniques at a high level.
HPLC purity
HPLC results depend on the method, column, detector, standards, integration and acceptance criteria. A reported percentage is meaningful only with the associated record and method context.
LC-MS identity
LC-MS can connect chromatographic separation with mass spectral evidence. It does not automatically establish purity, sterility, endotoxin status or manufacturing grade.
Other measurements
Peptide content or assay, sterility, endotoxin and bioburden are separate measurements. A missing test should be recorded as not provided for that lot rather than inferred from another result.
